It is a fundamental belief amongst many Cosmologists that the universe simply sprang into exsistence from 'nothingness'.
Having an interest in cosmology myself, this poster is my attempt to convey visually, the absurd concept of a 'nothingness' using only simple numbers. Hence, when we consider the numbers 5 down to 1, these can all be represented by a 'quantity' of something in reality, for eg, 5 apples, 3 pears etc, etc.
'Zero' however, cannot be represented similarly, because a 'zero' equates to 'non-existence, and 'non-existence' equates to a lack of dimensions in both space and time.
In other words, zero ( and thus nothingness ) are meerly concepts, which I have signified by the circle of dots, since of course it is impossible to convey visually a true 'nothingness', for that would neccessitate that even a completly empty space within the circle of dots would be non - existent.
